Can a magnet destroy a hard drive?

Technically, yes it can, but you’d need an exceptionally strong magnet to be able to wipe a hard drive. The magnet would have to be so strong, in fact, that it would probably destroy the computer as well as the hard drive. Leave your hard drive destruction to us!

Do you remove my data before shredding the hard drive?

That depends on your individual needs. If you still require the information then, yes, we can absolutely do this and store it on our high-security servers if you so wish. However, if you have no use for the data on your hard drive and it’s not legally sensitive, once we physically destroy the hard drive the data contained on it will be rendered useless and irretrievable.

How eco-friendly are your hard drive disposal methods?

Very! The hard drive waste will be separated and recycled appropriately. This not only lowers our collective carbon footprints, but it stops potentially harmful chemicals and toxins from being released into the environment.

How are my hard drives destroyed?

Your hard drives are destroyed using a high-security hard drive shredder. The shredder shreds the hard drives into small pieces that cannot be reassembled. The pieces are typically about the size of a grain of rice. This makes it impossible to recover any data from the hard drives. The shredder is a secure, industrial-grade machine that is designed to destroy hard drives. The shredder is operated by one of our trained technicians who ensures that the hard drives are destroyed properly.

Can you collect hard drives from my location?

Yes, we can collect hard drives from your location. We offer a free collection service for all of our customers. We will schedule a time to come to your location and collect the hard drives. We will then destroy the hard drives in our secure facility.

Are hard drives worth scrapping?

Yes, hard drives are worth scrapping. The metal in hard drives can be recycled and reused. The most valuable metal in hard drives is neodymium, which is a rare earth metal. Neodymium is used in a variety of applications, including magnets, motors, and generators. We will recycle the metal in the hard drives that we destroy. We will also dispose of the plastic and other materials in an environmentally friendly way.
